Frequently Asked Questions

General

Who runs the server?

The server is owned and operated by Auzer1 and FunOD — the same two people running the anarchy and cobblemon servers.

If someone claims 'staff powers' in-game

They are attempting to deceive you. No hidden or alt staff accounts exist.

Is there an official Discord?

No. There is no official Discord server, and there are no plans to create one. Many player-run communities exist, but none of them are moderated or sanctioned by us. We do not participate in — or take responsibility for — any external community drama.

For direct contact, see the Support page.

Why is your version of Cursed Walking different from the CurseForge one?

We removed the ambience mods, shader mods, and other graphics-enhancement mods from the pack. The game content — weapons, zombies, thirst, infection, structures, all the interesting mechanics — is intact. What's gone is the visual bloat that makes the official pack unplayable on lower-end hardware.

The point is inclusivity: anyone with a modest laptop should be able to play here. We measure success in "does it run at 60 FPS on 8 GB RAM," not "does it have the prettiest fog."

Is this a cracked server?

Yes. Online-mode is off. Any launcher that can connect to an offline-mode server works — see the Install page for the specific recommendations.

Is cheating or exploiting allowed?

Exploiting isn't punishable, but is automatically prevented by the AntiCheat. Any exploits that bypass the AntiCheat aren't punishable either.

Are there plans to increase the player limit?

Not at the moment. We prefer to keep the server manageable and within a resource range we can personally oversee. The current sweet spot is a 50–100 player range.

Are you interested in expanding advertising?

No. We prefer organic growth. The server's direction is dictated by our personal preferences and the current hardware workload — not by a desire for a massive player count.

About the modpack

Which version are you running?

The live Required mods list on the install page always reflects the exact mod set the server is running. If your client matches that list, you're good.

Will you switch to a newer version of the base pack?

When there's a stable release we've had time to test. Version bumps get announced on the news page a few days ahead so you have time to sync your client.

Can I use OptiFine?

No. It crashes with the rendering stack in Cursed Walking. Do not install it.

Can I add my own mods client-side?

Cosmetic mods (Sodium alternatives, shaders you install yourself, cosmetic HUD tweaks, minimap replacements, keybind managers) — yes, welcome. Anything that adds content, changes recipes, or modifies world generation — no, it'll get rejected by the server's mod check.

Playing on the server

How much RAM does my machine need?

Allocate at least 4 GB to the instance. Less than 4 GB and you'll stutter through chunk loads.

What launchers are supported?

Any launcher that can install Forge 1.20.1 and connect to a cracked/offline-mode server works. Popular choices among players include the CurseForge App, Prism Launcher, TLauncher, ATLauncher, and SKLauncher.

How do I claim land / stop people breaking into my base?

Land protection is enabled — check /help in-game for the current commands (they change between pack versions). Don't leave valuables in unclaimed chunks.
